        Editorial

Welcome to the second edition of The JNIS Herald! After months of hard work and countless hours
of editing, we are proud to finally present a compilation of work by the talented and intelligent
students of the 11th grade IBDP.

For the second edition of the Herald, we asked one thing from our writers - the world is your oyster.
A promise, which we are proud to say, they delivered. The JNIS Herald 2018 continues to explore a
wide variety of topics, and inculcates the intellectual prowess and opinions of both grades. From
informative articles about Bitcoin and the caste system to fervent prose about the nature of beauty
and nostalgia, our agog writers have explored the world around them to create sincere and
stimulating content.

The JNIS Herald was originally just a tiny idea that we came up with while discussing news events
across the world. However, it soon materialised and allowed us to discuss the same thoughts on
world affairs on a larger scale. We wanted to disprove the idea that teenagers are ignorant and
unaware of the world around them, and the JNIS Herald handed us such an opportunity, as well as
the opportunity to work with some incredible and intelligent teenagers. “The present, not the future,
belongs to the young.” If the articles in this edition are indicative of anything, it is this idea.

Lastly, we are happy to announce that the editors-in-chief next year will be Aliya Kamran and Aditi
Parikh. The pair of them acted as managing editors this year, and did a fantastic job as is reflected in
this edition. The JNIS Herald is in undoubtedly good hands for the years to come!

As we leave the IBDP and Jamnabai Narsee International School with a heavy heart, we want to
thank everyone involved in this process. The Herald will always be in our hearts, as it is our pride
and joy. We are extremely proud of our little venture, and we hope you enjoy this year’s edition.

Founding Editors,
Paroma Mehta and Smriti Ghildiyal.
