the people vote, they decide it by
court or the members of the
parliament decide themselves, and
their decisions usually aren’t
representative of the countries they
lead.
The Prime Minister of Australia,
Malcolm Turnbull, who has been a
long time supporter of same-sex
marriage and had previously failed to
get it legalised said, “This is
Australia: fair, diverse, loving and
filled with respect”, and “this belongs
to us (them) all”
